Types Of Paints To Use

Use only the top of the line from any paint manufacturer or you will end up spending more money using the cheap paint. Cheap paint takes more coats to cover and won't last as long.

Cheap paint is cheap for a good reason. Paint manufacturers do not add as much of the expensive coverage materials (titanium) or adhesives in cheap paints.

I like to use Dunn Edwards paints as much as possible. Behr offers a good paint that you can buy at most Home Depot stores. Sherwin Williams is decent paint, but a little too costly in my opinion.

News About Benjamin Moore Paint

I just used Benjamin Moore paint again and I wasn't impressed. The homeowner needed the outside of their new addition painted and they had the paint already.

The color I was applying was dark enough that it should have covered well over the white, but too much of the white bled through after the first coat ... and I rolled the paint on extra thick too.

It just goes to show you, If you have to apply two coats of paint when you can do one coat with a good paint, it's worth the extra dollar to buy the good paint. Paying a contractor the extra time to apply a second coat will cost you more money than it would to pay for quality paint.

Rumor About Frazee Paint

I used Frazee paints in California and I loved the paint at the time. When I moved to Phoenix, I continued to use Frazee until one day I was applying an off white color over almost the same color white and I couldn't get the paint to cover. I wasn't happy with the results since I was using the exact same paint as before and all of a sudden it wasn't covering as well.

I returned the left over paint for a refund. I've only used Frazee one time since and it was because the homeowner had it for touch up .

Now, this is only rumor, but I heard that the new owners of Frazee decided they wanted to save money on manufacturing the paint, so they cut back on the amount of titanium they put in the paint. I heard this from a reputable source, but it's only rumor. I don't know what is true, but I saw bad results myself and I won't use Frazee paints any longer unless the homeowner threatens me to use it.
